The Rotanas – Scores on the Doors (single review)

Of the current crop of young guitar bands making their way in South Wales at the moment, The Rotanas are certainly in the upper echelon, particularly when it comes to creating rousing, swaggering tunes with ear wormy choruses. New single “Scores on the Doorsexhibit A.

Their first single of the year is instantly memorable, lodging in your head before the song has even finished and although that doesn’t really make sense and probably isn’t possible, I’m refusing to delete it as it perfectly depicts what I’m trying to articulate!

There’s a sense of urgency about The Rotanas in both their music and their on-stage persona. Led by a, let’s say, self-assured singer Harry Watton, they’re a band intent on making a mark with their gritty, modern take on Britpop…or Gritpop as they have fittingly coined it. Have a listen and you’ll know what they mean.

“Scores on the Doors” is released on February 28th on Shiny Vinyl Records. Check it here on Spotify and follow The Rotanas on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep an eye on future news.
